Overview

This 4-day programme supports the development of new and emerging leaders working with front-line staff, volunteers, and partner organisations.  There is a focus on developing skills and confidence, building and leading a team, decision-making, and problem-solving.  Participants will leave with a clear action plan for implementing the learning within the organisation.

Next classroom course starts Tuesday 7th May in London

We also offer Community Leadership as an In-company course for organisations with 4 or more delegates who want to attend.

Who should attend?

New and aspiring community leaders, working with front-line staff, in-direct reports, volunteers and partner organisations.

Course Content

The programme consists of 8 half-day workshops:

· Leadership styles – do you know your personal leadership style and the strengths you bring to the team? What areas can you develop further to ensure you are an effective leader and manager?

· Partnership working – how to get the best from collaborating with partners and volunteers. What motivates people to volunteer and what do you need to be aware of when collaborating with people from different agencies? Includes a focus on political astuteness and influencing skills.

· Managing indirect reports – how do you manage the people who are not directly employed by the organisation but who have a role supporting your customers/people who use your services? What are the key lessons for managers?

· Challenging conversations – what are the types of challenging conversations you need to have and what skills do you require to be effective? A practical session where Resound professional actors will play the roles of members of the public, volunteers, and others, whilst delegates stay in their own role.

· Using Coaching and Mentoring to develop others – what knowledge and skills do you need to pass on to your teams and partners and what is the most effective approach?
· Decision-Making Simulation Workshop – real-life examples of decisions leaders need to make with branching scenarios. The decisions reached by the group decide where the scenario goes next. Interactive and fun with lots of reflection and discussion on decisions.
· Health & Wellbeing Workshop – optional functional fitness assessment with our Level 3 accredited Personal Trainer, and personal workout plan. Followed by mental wellbeing discussions led by our BACP accredited work-place counsellor.
· Action Learning Sets – participants present and work through real-life challenges using a group coaching approach and facilitated by one of our ALS facilitators
