DESIGNING LEARNING FOR LONG TERM IMPACT

One of the exciting aspects of designing learning programmes and experiences is the opportunity to create long term impact for individuals, teams and organisations.

Back in 2010 I began designing a leadership programme for the optical sector, a postgrad module and an optional component of the MSc at WOPEC, Cardiff University.

Originally focused around 6 contact days, in 2016 the University asked me to redesign the programme so the majority of content could be delivered online. This lead to my own development and MSc in Digital Education to ensure the design retained its impact for learners.

I led the programme with my colleague Jane Gray (an alumni of the programme) until last year when I handed the reins over to Jane and Simone Mason (another alumni). So I was delighted to be sent this article, published in Optometry Today featuring one of our students Reena Rani Anand who explains the positive impact taking the programme has had on her career.

Developing leaders an future leaders is a key responsibility of L&D departments and senior leadership teams.
