ILM qualifications in Leadership and Management

Our ILM certified courses can be delivered in a way that suits you, your business needs and your employees.

Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management

Are you a newly promoted manager, team leader or supervisor?  Or maybe you are aiming to move into a management role within the next 12 months?

If so, our Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification offers you the transferable and practical skills you need to manage your team well and achieve a high level of performance. It is our most popular ILM qualification. We have supported hundreds of managers, supervisors and team leaders to achieve the qualification, many of whom have since progressed into senior roles and now recommend the programme to their colleagues.

Modules

We offer a 3 module option for the Level 3 Award:

  • Leading and Motivating a Team
  • Understanding Performance Management
  • Understanding Communication in the Workplace

And we offer a 4 module option which includes the above modules PLUS

  • Understanding Conflict Management in the Workplace (this module is provided online).

How is the programme delivered?

We run the Level 3 Award in-person over 3 consecutive days at venues in East London/Essex.  The 3 training days will provide you with all the learning you require to complete your assignments and achieve the qualification.

This programme is also available via our online Academy for learners who prefer a self-paced option.

We provide all the resources you need including: practical short readings, videos, audios and our highly popular Hints and Tips sheets. We also provide reflective journals for notes and online tutor support before and after attending the 3 day programme.

Assessment

Assessment is via a written assignment per module or you can choose to complete the assessment via a recorded discussion with one of our Assessors.  The recorded discussion is a very popular method with our learners and an approach which has been highly commended by our ILM external verifier.

Our Lead Assessor attends our in-person training days to provide advice and guidance so you know you are on the right track, and provides support via video-call for those completing the programme online.

Feedback from previous delegates:

The support given was great and the flexibility was adult and non-pushy or patronising.  I handed in both my assignments that were marked and the feedback was constructive and positive helping me to learn how to put it in place. To date I am putting in to place what I have learnt.

I would totally recommend the company to others as it has to be one of the best put together courses I have been on.

The delivery of the sessions was friendly and informative. It was very easy to feel relaxed and supported enough to be open and honest about my experiences, and to help work through potential solutions and opportunities.

The flexibility of my assessment was fantastic. The ability to mix written and spoken assessment meant that I could develop both skills, and dive more into my experiences in different formats. It was great to have the time to think about my answers and be able to respond at a later date, and the conversation format was incredibly useful to dissect my views and evaluate my answers.

I immediately started to use what I learned in my role. Literally the next day. The material is obvious when discussed in a classroom setting, generally being a common-sense approach, but it was great to explain these areas in a safe environment, before being approached with some challenging situations soon after completing the course. It is easy to not necessarily do the best course of action in ‘the real world’ when faced with a situation, but this course was a great prep tool to give me the confidence I could engage in these challenging events.

“Gill and her team were always available to give advice and direction, their feedback was invaluable.

I found it useful to keep a reflective journal and was able to draw on this when being assessed for each of the 4 modules. It also gave each of us different ways to be assessed; I liked to keep a reflective journal which I submitted at the end of the module and then had a face to face interview or a telephone interview to demonstrate my competency.

Completion of the ILM has had a positive impact on the way I manage my staff. I am mindful that my behaviours will have an effect on the people I manage and that you cannot have the same style and will have to adapt to the individual. I find that I am continually reflecting on how I respond to my staff.”

ILM Level 5 Certificate in Effective Coaching & Mentoring

This is a powerhouse of a qualification and will set you up with the knowledge and skills you need to embark on your journey as a coach or mentor, either within your organisation or as a self-employed coach working with businesses.

There are 3 mandatory assignments:

  1. Understanding the Skills, Principles and Practice of Effective Coaching and Mentoring within an Organisational Context.
  2. Undertaking Effective Coaching and Mentoring within an Organisational Context.
  3. Reviewing your own ability as a Coach and Mentor within an Organisational Context.

The first assignment is focused on building your knowledge around key skills, concepts and principles. You will achieve this via a written assignment and is the focus of the first 3 in-person days.  At the end of those 3-days you will be ready to complete the first draft of your written assignment and start your coaching practice.

The second assignment is focused on your coaching practice hours.  You will need to complete 18 hours coaching and or mentoring – supporting 3 people in management roles within an organisation.  You will write up coaching diaries to provide evidence for your second assignment.

The third assignment provides an opportunity to reflect on the knowledge, skills and practice that you have developed over the course of the programme.  You can complete this via a written assignment or via a recorded discussion with one of our Assessors.

How is the programme delivered?

We provide 4 in-person training days at venues across East London/Essex. You will attend one day per week for the first 3 weeks of the programme and then a fourth day when you have commenced your practice coaching sessions.

Tutor support is available throughout the programme via group and individual video-calls.  You will also be able to access 3 x coaching sessions for yourself delivered by one of our qualified coaches and attend 2 x coaching supervision sessions with our coaching supervisor.

We provide text books and online resources including videos. And crucially plenty of support as and when you need it.

Assessment

The quality of our assessment is outstanding and has been recognized by our External Verifier who said: “it doesn’t get better than this.” Our Lead Assessor will attend the in-person training days to offer advice and guidance and ensure you are on the right track.
