If you choose to take the ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management with Resound then you can opt to take the assessment via recorded one-to-one conversations rather than writing assignments. Or for anyone preferring to write assignments, Resound provides a template with lots of hints and tips so you know your answers are on the right track. Gill explains that taking an ILM qualification is very different to what you might have experienced at school! A core management responsibility is managing the performance of their team members. The full training video provides some useful insights into some of the mistakes managers make and showcases some effective skills. The full video consists of 3 short scenes: 1. We meet Mark. In this short scene Mark explains how he is feeling about his next meeting with a team member and why he is dreading addressing the issues. 2. Getting it Wrong - in this scene we see Mark handle the conversation very badly, which results in his team member getting upset and angry. 3. A Better Approach - in this scene we see the same conversation playout but this time Mark takes an empathic approach and this uncovers the real reasons for the performance issues. How to use this video in a training session: 1. Play the first scene and then pause the video and ask the group for their response. Ask how Mark's feelings are likely to impact on his meeting with Emma. 2. Play the second scene Getting it Wrong and then pause the video. Ask the group to explain all the things Mark got wrong in the way he handled this conversation. 3. Play the third scene Better Approach. Ask the group to identify the skills Mark used which created a better conversation.
